Have You Ever Been to the Moon?

Well I have a semi-final version of a children's book completed. It is titled "Have You Ever Been to the Moon?" You can find it and read it online here.  You can also follow the fan page on facebook, the link is on the books webpage. That is where I will post any exciting news about getting it published or positive response. fingers crossed

Isabel's Insight #2

Me: "What do polar bears eat?"
Isabel: "Snow."

Make a little birdhouse in your soul

Isabel painted a very fine birdhouse today and we hung it in the backyard. So if you are a bird in the area or know any, come on down, we have a vacancy. Later that day we flew a kite off the deck and then went out for dinner and ice cream. As always there are more photos, HERE.

True False Film Festival

I have spent about every waking moment of this weekend at the True False Film Festival. It was a lot of fun and I got to see a lot of movies. My two favorites so far have been "Blood Trail" and "Loot". All the movies I saw were good but these two I liked a lot.

I also entered the "Gimme Truth" contest they hold. The rules are as follows: you submit a film that is 2 minutes or less and the entry has to be entirely true or false. Then they show 10 selected films at The Blue Note in front of the audience and judges. After each film the judges get to ask you one question each, in order to figure out if your film was true or false. The idea is to stump or fool them. I did stump two of them but one figured me out. I did not place but it was a great time and an honor to be selected. I will definitely be entering next year. Danielle, Rev, Andrea and Matt came out to watch the show and we all had a good time. There are a few photos that Daniele snapped for me in the photos section. Thanks for taking the shots. Gotta go, another movie is about to start.

Here is my entry, "Gimme Proof"

Isabel's Insight

Me: "Where does the wind come from?"
Isabel: "Windows."

Max Turns 6

Everyone had a good time watching Max open his Birthday presents at Michelle and Dan's yesterday. The spaghetti and meatballs were great. We had cake and ice cream too. Happy Birthday Max!

Isabel's First Car

Isabel got her first car today. It is a 1993 Jeep, Barbie, Beach Cruiser. It is in good condition with minimal wear and tear, and the tires are good. I could not tell how many miles were on it since there is no odometer but, overall it appears to be a reliable mode of transportation.

It was saved from the fate of going to the Wise Old Trash Heap. All it needed was a battery and some TLC. I have it hooked up at half speed 2.5 mph, but with another battery it is designed to do 5 mph on 12 volts. No 88 miles per hour for this time traveler.

It is pretty slow and safe. However there is an online community of people who soup these things up. Get them running on 24 volts, switch out the motors and have them going at a top speed of just under 10 mph!

I think I will wait until she has the basics down first, you know accelerate out of the turns, not into them, drafting and how to pass on the outside without hitting the wall. Then I can step her up into a higher racing class. Next thing you know she'll be in a gas powered go-kart.

Maybe a couple shinny LED tail and head lights wouldn't hurt. If you want to see some mods others have done Click Here. I like the Harley video myself.

The video below shows her first efforts as a safe driver, "Look Dad, No Hands!"

Watch out Danica Patrick!

Footloose

Get down to an old school classic like this Kenny Loggins hit. You know you like it. I know Isabel does. Check out those moves. This is just a small clip from the DVD that I make every year that covers all of Isabel's captured moments. If you want a copy just e-mail me, it is about an hour long.

Cwismas and Isabel turns Thwee

I havent posted in a while due to the holidays. Been busy like the rest of the world. Thank you for being so generous this holiday season from both Isabel and I. There are plenty of more photos of both her Birthday and Christmas in the photos section.

She had a blast over Christmas but was very sick the week before her birthday. Thankfully she felt great for turning "thwee". I told her she was big now and she said, "no I'm still a wittle, not big"

Decorating

This weekend was full of turkey and stuffing and as always Grandma Jane wasted no time in getting the tree up and the Christmas Season moving. Above is a picture of Isabel helping out, there are more in the photos section, as well as some shots of her playing in the first snow of the year, like the photo below.

Ben and Joe

Ben Jammin

Joe Mama

Michelle and Dan's two boys are in the above videos. They can and will get into everything now. They are a handfull.

Tricycle

Isabel is getting good at riding her trike. She still has trouble with turning but she has peddling down. I am sure she will be on a ten speed by the end of the week.

Merlin & Pumpkin

Happy Halloween

Grants Farm

The whole fam damily went up to Grants Farm and fed the goats. It was fun but exhausting. We took the RV and the kids sleep the whole way back, along with some of the adults. Pa Pa drove and that made it relaxing for the rest of us.

There is a video of Isabel running around with the goats and some photos too.

Louisville Chugger

I have to hand it to our younger generation. The drinking games of my twenties pale in comparison to the games of today. We had your standard card games like "Circle of Death" or "Presidents and A------s". These are no match for Beer pong and Louisville Chugger. You can see Matt at the plate in the video below.

The object: of game: Get drunk.

The rules: 1. Chug your beer out of the bat. 2. The number of seconds it takes determines the number of spins around the bat you must complete. 3. After completing your spins you are pitched the empty beer can. 4. Swing batter.

How to win: See "object of game"

I took my turn and must say I did not do as well as Matt.

If you wish to see Malcolm, Brady and Nick's at bat click there names.

Roots N Blues

The video is at the Flat Branch park sprayground. Isabel, Gwen and Sophia all had a blast playing in the water and getting soaked.

We all spent a lot of the day downtown Saturday and the girls had a blast. Check out the photos section to see more of what went down at the Roots N Blues Festival.

Time Warp!

HOLY ____ can you believe this photo! Korte sent it to me. Can you pick out my scrawny ass.

Humongous

The title says it all.

Butterfly Wings

Isabel got some balloon butterfly wings at the Heritage Festival this weekend. Michelle, Max, Isabel and I went and had some fun. We rode the hayride and did lots of fun cheap crafts.

She wanted a "peent bow" very bad, I only had money for a bow or face paint. So she had quite a tough choice to make. She obviously choose what was right in front of her the "Peent Bow". Michelle said that it was a smart choice because the Pink bow will last a lot longer than getting her face painted.

Later on while Max was getting his face painted, she changed her mind and tried to give me back the pink bow. It was quite sad, but she got over it. I don't think her skin would have done so well covered in face paint anyway. Not to mention that her nap was an hour away and her sheets would have been covered in paint and glitter. We did however scrounge up two bucks for these butterfly wings and she thought that they were awesome, she is still wearing both the bow and wings.

Public Notice

Well if you have seen a certain movie you will probably get this joke. If you have not seen it, you are most likely sitting there saying "huh" or "that's odd", possibly even "what a jerk face", you might be saying these things even if you have seen the movie. In any case, if you want to be in on the joke and you have a couple hours to kill, rent "Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind", then it will make more sense. If you want more information on this procedure Click Here

Its a good film, but if you don't like dark comedies you won't like this one.

On another note, I have been without a camera for a little while and will hopefully remedy that problem soon. When I do I will start posting some more photos of my little muse again.

Colgates Birthday Scramble

A couple of weeks ago I went golfing with about 20 other people for Matt Colgins birthday. It was a good time, I got teamed up with Brian, Matt and Rev for the scramble. We came in dead last, "whooo hooo" We got trophies for being so bad. Mostly we bullshitted the whole time, might be why we didn't do so well, that or the fact that none of us had played in forever or more than 10 times total. Except Brian, he was our anchor. All in all, Matt turned 30 and didn't end up in the hospital. Thanks Andrea! There are some great pictures in the photo section or you can go Here

Welcome to T and I J .com

Well I renamed the site. I'll let you figure out why. Anyways, now introducing Travis and Isabel Johnson .com also known as TandIJ.com. It is acting a little squirrely after I changed the domain name but I hope to work the kinks out. I changed the colors just for kicks. I might redo it all together. I have not decided yet. Let me know what you think, change it, keep it, new color sucks, speak up? Anyways, stay tuned for more posts.

The Zoo!

Grandma Jane, Pa Pa, Isabel and I took a day trip to the St. Louis Zoo.

It was a lot of fun and Isabel kept here eyes on the bears. I think she was a little bit worried, I know Pa Pa was. He tried to figure out what caliber of gun it would take, to stop one, if you met it in the woods. Lets hope that never happens.

We saw tons of animals, rode the carousel and the train. Her favorite was the monkeys. But she counted lots of fish too. She was wiped out and slept on the ride home.
